Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know to start, configure and troubleshoot Aegis.

General

Yes, Aegis is completely free. Add it to your server in one click and use every module at no cost.
Aegis brings nine modules together: complete moderation (with an infraction record), YouTube music, levels & XP, support tickets, anti-raid, captcha, welcome messages, invite tracking and server logs — all through slash commands.
Click Add to Discord, choose your server and approve the permissions. The bot is already hosted and online 24/7: it works the moment it's added. Then run /setup to configure it. Everything is detailed in the setup guide.
17 languages, configurable per server with /language. English is the default. Note: Discord doesn't allow Arabic, Bengali and Urdu for command names, but all of the bot's responses stay translated in those languages.
Your server's data (configuration, levels, infraction record) is stored securely in a PostgreSQL database, and is only used to run the modules you enable. You stay in control of your configuration and can disable any module at any time.

Configuration

Type /setup: a guided configuration center opens and walks you through it step by step (welcome, levels, logs, anti-raid, etc.). Each module also has its own configuration command.
The staff: any member with the Manage Server or Administrator permission, or with a role you've set as staff via /staffroles configure.
Use /language and choose from the 17 available languages. The setting applies to the whole server.

Permissions & troubleshooting

Check that Aegis is online and has permission to write in the channel. For moderation actions, its role must be placed above the affected members in the role hierarchy (Server Settings → Roles).
Make sure you're connected to a voice channel and that the bot has the Connect and Speak permissions there. Then run /play again with a YouTube link or a search.
First check its configuration via /setup or the dedicated command (/levels, /logs…). Also make sure the bot has the necessary permissions on the target channels (view and write) and that its role is high enough in the hierarchy.
